NUJ pensioners
Dear brothers and sisters,
The story so far - many of you have received and acted upon the message
underneath - but some haven't so here again.
A motion passed at ADM called for a feasibility study on building a
union-wide pensioners/retired members organisation including holding a
biennial delegate meeting.
To that end you will have received a questionnaire from head office
asking for the details, activities and interest of your
pensioner/retired members in such a project.
The replies to the questionnaire were positive and encouraging but
unfortunately many branches did not return the questionnaire - in view
of these two facts the head office is repeating the exercise.
May I in a personal capacity urge branch officers and members to at
least fill in the questionnaire even if you have no great detail to
submit - Please don't let this go by default.
Stop press: there are in the NUJ 3115 life members with men over 65
numbering 2826 and Women 60 and over - 819 surely an organisation of
these members would help the NUJ.
Fraternally,
Roy Jones
