The NUJ has appointed a new Assistant Organiser in Ireland.

Nicola Coleman will take up her post in early September.

Her appointment will also be a boost to those concerned about the relatively low number of women in senior NUJ staff positions.

Other female Assistant Organisers include Jenny Lennox in the Northern region and Angela Austin in Scotland.

The union does not currently have a woman in an Organiser role.
