Progress on PCC reform
By Mike Jempson, Director of Mediawise

The gradual process of reform at the Press Complaints Commission continues.

Complainants now have two months in which to register their complaint about items published in newspapers and magazines and their online editions.

For details on how to complain, click here.

And the PCC has remonstrated with an editor for unnecessary delays in responding to complainants. You can read the PCC adjudication here.

The MediaWise Report, Satisfaction Guaranteed?, suggests these and other procedural reforms.

Press complaints systems under scrutiny published in June (available from pw@presswise.org.uk, price £16.30, inc p&p).

The PCC has agreed to meet with MediaWise in the autumn to discuss the report findings, and we shall continue to monitor progress towards a more open and accountable regulatory system.
