Ling-a-long-a NUJ!
Immediately after December's Branch meeting, there will be a small but sophisticated soiree (that's soiree, not swally) at the Branch's regular hang-out, The Doublet, in Park Road. All members, old and new, will be welcomed ecstatically.

So far, it has not been possible to confirm Peter Skellern's booking as entertainment but Branch secretary, Jim Knox, is almost certain to treat us to his gutsy rendition of Bandera Rosa.

Canapé?

Freedom of what?
Scottish Organiser, Paul Holleran, caused a stir at Holyrood, when he accused Jack McConnell of interfering with freedom of the Press. Paul was giving evidence to the Justice Committee on Freedom of Information, when he recounted details of McConnell's alleged demand to vet all stories about him in the Wishaw Press.

Exacerbating matters was the fact that Paul hadn't even asked for McConnell's permission before making the announcement!

Good dog, Fido!
When your faithful canine delivers next month's edition of The Journalist there will be a special treat contained in the cellophane envelope. The Scottish Journalist, the legendary (who said "mythical"?) publication of the Scottish Council is back and the members of the editorial committee insist that it is here to stay.

Did you ever doubt it?
