| The Glasgow
branch welcomed the General Secretary, Jeremy Dear, to its October meeting. On
his first visit to Glasgow since his election, Jeremy presented certificates to
five life members in attendance. These
were Bob Ross, Robert Joyner, Stewart Fraser, Fraser Ballantyne and James Reynolds.
The branch also approved life memberships for Rodger Baillie, Alexander Brown,
Iain Duff, Thomas Fraser, Alexander MacDonald, Malcolm MacDougall, Ian Paul, Ann
Simpson and James Torrance. Photographs

page. In his address
to the branch Jeremy spoke of the great strides that the NUJ is currently making
in many of its areas of activity and pointed out that none of the current optimisim
would have been possible without the continued commitment of members, oten through
the most trying of circumstances. The
branch also dealt with a number of motions and nominations for ADM. More details
of these will be available when the minutes for the October meeting have been
